The first is that of every olive grower: a challenge launched to nature, to the sky, to destiny. Because producing oil means trusting the sun and fearing hail, hoping for the right rain and warding off the olive fly.
But that’s not all. The Caputo family has also chosen another challenge: that of respect. Respect for the land, for its rhythms, for clean agriculture, without forcing. A commitment that does not allow shortcuts, but that restores authenticity, dignity and identity to the oil produced. At the end of the 90s, the Caputo mill is a second home for Ignazio and Rosaria: a place where work and family merge. But in 1999, the sudden death of Ignazio shakes the roots of that world. It is then that Mauro Altomare, Ignazio’s son-in-law and a mechanical engineer, chooses to collect his legacy. A courageous decision, made of love and vision: to ferry the mill into the new millennium, combining tradition and innovation. Mauro is among the first in Puglia to install a MORI plant and to start a completely organic production line.
Nel 2020, un In 2020, a new hard blow: Covid also takes away Mauro. Once again, the story seems to be interrupted. But it does not end. It is his sons, Ignazio and Antonio, together with their mother Maria Caputo, who pick up the thread. They too, coming from different paths, choose to return to the land to honor a legacy and carry on a dream. Today, the oils of Frantoio Caputo collect prizes and awards, telling in every drop the authentic story of Puglia and of a family that has been able to resist.
